Roxanne Jacobs

Dr Roxanne Jacobs is a Senior Research Officer at the Alan J. Flisher Centre for Public Mental Health, University of Cape Town. She has over a decade of experience managing applied research in South African communities, focusing on mental health, elder abuse, stigma, ageing, and dementia. Her doctoral research estimated prevalence of elder abuse, adapted cross-cultural research tools, and conducted a situational analysis of dementia care service provision in South Africa. She has contributed to international projects, including the STRIDE initiative (https://stride-dementia.org/), and is currently South African Country Project Coordinator for the ALIVE project (https://www.alive4mentalhealth.org/), a cluster RCT improving adolescent mental health outcomes in Cape Town, Bogotá, and Kathmandu. Dr Jacobs also supports student research that is socially grounded and aimed at practical improvements in care and mental health services.
